DBasia.news – The classic Juventus fight against the Dutch team, Ajax Amsterdam, will be presented in the 2018-19 Champions League quarter-finals. Edwin van der Sar, a former second-team goalkeeper, said that Ajax had the chance to beat Juventus.
Ajax will first host the Johan Cruyff Arena on Thursday (11/4) at 2:00 a.m Western Indonesian Time, before visiting Juventus Stadium on 17 April 2019 at 2:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
Van der Sar, former Ajax goalkeeper (1990-1999) and Juventus (1999-2001), have strong faith in Ajax defeating the Bianconeri because the Dutch team has gone through the counter test of the other two big teams, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
“The match against Juventus will be exciting. We are happy to be in the quarter-finals. We played at a high level against Real in Madrid and we hope to do it again against Juve in Amsterdam,” said Van der Sar, quoted by Football-Italy.
“The team is confident. They can beat Juve. We have a young (talented) team and add it to experience, for example with (Dusan) Tadic and also bring (Daley) Blind from Manchester United.”
“We still play in the Champions League and we can beat Juventus, after beating Real Madrid and playing well against Bayern, and that all gave us confidence,” convinced the Ajax Sports Director.
Of course, the squad of the two teams is very much different than the meeting in the 1996 final. Juve can provide a threat from many directions because it has quality players. Don’t forget they also have a megastar this season, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 34-year-old Portuguese player has shown a steely mentality, determination, and proof of his love of playing in the Champions League via hat-trick against Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The duet of experience defender, Daley Blind, with a talented young defender, Matthijs de Ligt, will be tested by Ronaldo and other Juve offensive players such as Mario Mandzukic, Federico Bernardeschi, Paulo Dybala and Moise Kean.
