Van Gaal says Van de Beek Made a Big Mistake in Joining MU

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Former Manchester United coach, Louis van Gaal, considered Donny van de Beek’s decision to join United was a big mistake. Until now, the former Ajax Amsterdam player has not even become the first choice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Solskjaer’s tactics were considered monotonous and he is considered unable to mix up the squad he has. One player who has not performed optimally as he rarely plays is Dutch midfielder, Donny van de Beek.

Van de Beek was brought in from Ajax Amsterdam at the start of the season for 40 million euros and was rarely played by Solskjaer. Former MU manager, Louis van Gaal also commented on the fate of the player from his country. According to him Van de Beek made the wrong decision to join MU.

Van Gaal saw the composition of the MU midfield which already had Fred, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and Nemanja Matic. Van de Beek considered Van Gaal’s presence made it increasingly difficult for him to play in Solskjaer’s first team.

“I hoped the time would come, but I don’t think he made a good choice. I said it right away,” Louis van Gaal told Dutch television channel, Ziggo.

“If you had Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, where would Van de Beek be?”

“He doesn’t have the qualities like Pogba and Fernandes. And now you see that Pogba often doesn’t play. Where should Van de Beek play?”

“I think you can see that before. There are so many teams, who can do better justice to him, also in the top division. He is a player with a lot of quality,” added Van Gaal.

Van de Beek (23 years old) has played 16 times in all competitions this season with a record of one goal and one assist. The minutes played by the Dutch national team player was 664 minutes.
