Virgil van Dijk gave advice to Cody Gakpo

It is believed that Gakpo will become a hot property in the winter transfer market. The striker performed well at PSV Eindhoven and at the 2022 World Cup, which makes many teams start to be interested in his services.

Recently there were two clubs that were rumored to be interested in securing the player’s services. They are Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The two teams were interested in Gakpo and they plan to recruit the player this winter.

Recently, Van Dijk gave advice to Gakpo to prefer Real Madrid over Manchester United.

He said Manchester United’s level was still far below Real Madrid. So he suggested Gakpo to move to Madrid.

“Are Manchester United and Real Madrid at the same level? With all due respect, I think there is a level difference between these two teams,” Van Dijk said as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Van Dijk himself supports Gakpo in moving from PSV Eindhoven. He considered the young player that it was time to play at a bigger club.

“I think it’s time for him to take the next step in his career. I’m sure he will move clubs either in the winter or in the summer, only time will tell,” continued Van Dijk.

“Cody is an extraordinary kid. He is a hard worker and talented. We are thrilled that he is doing well in our team and hopefully he can get even better in the future,” he concluded.

Both Manchester United and PSV must be prepared to spend a hefty amount to sign Gakpo.

The player will reportedly only be released at 50 million Euros in 2023.
