Wayne Rooney Says Everton Can Prevent Liverpool from Winning the Premier League

DBasia.news –  Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, predicts that Everton’s victory could possibly prevent Liverpool from winning the Premier League this season. Rooney also thinks Everton still have a chance to conquer Liverpool on the Merseyside Derby.

The Merseyside derby will be held at Anfield, Thursday (12/5) 3:15 AM in the 15th week of the Premier League. The current performance of both teams is completely the opposite. Everton struggled at the bottom of the board, while Liverpool topped the table without defeat.

The record sided with the host. The Reds were undefeated in 17 recent Premier League matches against Everton (seven wins and 10 draws). In fact, Everton last won at Anfield in the Premier League event that occurred in September 1999.

Nevertheless, Rooney, an Everton academy product and also a club legend, has the confidence that his former club could achieve a draw against Liverpool. In fact, it can be surprising with a victory at Anfield.

“I think Everton will achieve a draw. So far everything is challenging for them, (however) I think they can get up,” Rooney said during the Merseyside Derby, as quoted from the Mirror.

“This (Derby Merseyside) is great for the city and, if Everton wins, it can stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League title,” explained the winner of five Premier League titles and one Champions League title.

Everton, who have only scored 14 goals in 14 Premier League matches, will face a tough test to break through Liverpool who have only conceded 12 goals in the Premier League.
