Wenger Responds to Ozil’s Situation at Arsenal

DBasia.news – Looks like Arsene Wenger cannot forget his former club, Arsenal. This time Wenger commented on the recent plummeting performance of Mesut Ozil.
Mesut Ozil has been eliminated from Arsenal’s main team. The German player reportedly did not get a good report card from the manager, Unai Emery.
This situation has presented a problem. Because, Ozil received salary of up to 350 thousand pounds per week. Which means, Arsenal pays a lot to players who doesn’t contribute a whole lot.
Some news stated that Arsenal is willing to release Mesut Ozil since the last winter transfer market. However, the German player failed to leave.
Wenger assessed that what happened to Ozil was inseparable from the player’s attitude. Wenger considers Ozil to be too engrossed in his comfort zone. Although, he also saw Arsenal would have difficulty in finding the former Real Madrid successor.
“I feel that the length of the contract has nothing to do with the selection of the team. However, sometimes there are special cases,” commented Wenger.
“Most people think when they bring good players and are contracted for the next five seasons, they will also play well during that time. However, that does not mean they will continue to be the best. Because, maybe they are in their comfort zone,” Wenger said.
“He has a contract, but the problem is if you want to buy a player like Ozil, you will spend 100 million pounds. That preserves the value of the player, outside of Ozil’s case, it’s more about how football goes.”
“To buy a top-quality player with the best quality, you need 100 million. So, the decision that must be made is whether to sign a new contract that does not issue transfer fees, or buy new players,” explained the manager.
