When the UFO sighting stopped the Fiorentina match

DBasia.news – The Stadio Artemio Franchi played as hosts to an unforgettable moment in its 89-year history. The 1934 World Cup Final, the Spaghetti Bowl during the Second World War, and David Bowie’s concert in the late 80s graced the history of Artemio Franchi. However, there were no mysterious events beyond what happened on October 27, 1954.
Halloween was still four days away when one of the most mysterious events in Tuscany’s history took place before 10,000 people who watched a friendly match between Fiorentina against Pistoiese.
The game ran as normal. At that time, La Viola was leading 6-2 at the start of the second half. However, the situation slowly began to become hectic after seeing a phenomenon in the sky.
The players stopped and took part in watching the phenomenon with the audience. The referee also stopped the match.
An unidentified flying object (UFO) was seen by the thousands of people present. The object is egg shaped and flew swiftly. The event lasted fot almost 15 minutes.
“Everyone looked up and there was light coming down from the sky. We were surprised as we had never seen anything like that and we were really surprised,” explained Fiorentina defender at the time, Ardico Magnini.
The phenomenon of the unknown flying object has been seen in Tuscany’s sky a few days before the match. However, experts think what was seen on that day were hallucinations.
“All UFO phenomena are myths, magic and superstition that are wrapped up in the idea of how aliens saves or destroys us,” astronomer James McGaha told the BBC.
“When I first saw the case, I thought it was a fireball. However, it was clear that what was happening was actually caused by young spiders spinning a very thin web,” he continued.
In fact, Italian football is commonly filled with opinions due to one incident. Inter Milan fans believe his team deserves a penalty after Ronaldo was violated by Juventus player Mark Iuliano in the forbidden box which sparked controversy in 1998. Meanwhile, Juventus supporters claim there were no offenses.
After that, there was also a controversy over the goal of AC Milan player, Sulley Muntari, which was unvalidated even though the ball had already entered Juventus’ goal.
There are always two sides to a story. However, those present at the time swore what was seen was not caused by mass hallucinations or migratory spiders. They believe, it was evidence of visitors from the extraterrestrial.
“I know the hypothesis of migratory spiders. That’s nonsense. That’s an old and silly story,” said Roberto Pinotti, who is the leader of the Italian UFO center.
Interestingly, the following season, Fulvio Bernardini’s team won the Scudetto with a 12-point advantage in the final standings. Not surprisingly, myths of the appearance of the UFO was a sign that Fiorentina would win the title.
Antiskeptics had been increasingly excited to remember many things that support the argument. First, the aliens who could have visited other teams, actually present at the Fiorentina headquarters which at that time were still far from becoming champions. Moreover, Fiorentina was not favored to play 33 matches without falling.
Myths and legends has certainly become a nostalgia. However, the controversy and conspiracy were the main dishes that consistently feeds Calcio fans.
The events of that day wouold be debated, with opinions and theories originating from both sides of the coin. However, the story of whatever floated in the Tuscany sky that fall will continue to be remembered and become a fairy tale in Italian football
