William Saliba chooses to stay?

By db-admin

DBasia.news – French defender William Saliba had said he wanted to stay at Olympique Marseille, but now he has changed his mind and decided to stay with Arsenal.

As is known since Arsenal recruited Saliba from AS Saint-Etienne in 2019, Saliba did not get the chance to play in the first team. Instead of doing so he was loaned out three times in a row.

Saliba from 2019 to 2022 was loaned out to Saint-Etienne, Nice and Olympique Marseille. At the last club, Saliba’s appearance was the reason fans questioned why Arsenal did not take advantage of his services.

Saliba (21 years old) became the Best Player and Young Player of the Ligue 1 season 2021-2022, plus helped Jorge Sampaoli’s Marseille play in the Champions League next season.

Saliba had said that he wanted to stay at Marseille, but now he has changed his gesture and is ready to show off to Mikel Arteta.

“I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal,” said Saliba to Telefoot.

“I didn’t play at all with Arsenal and I wanted to show them how strong I am and have the opportunity to play for the fans and for this great club.”

“It just depends on me. However, leaving (Arsenal) like that would be a pity.”

His presence will add strength to Arsenal’s back line. Saliba will also make the competition in that position even more competitive, as Arsenal also have strong centre-backs in Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding.
