DBasia.news – Barcelona’s victory at Villarreal’s headquarters at the weekend left a story. Xavi Hernandez and Unai Emery were reportedly involved in a feud.
In the continued LaLiga 2021-2022 match which took place at El Madrigal Stadium, Sunday (28/11), Barcelona was able to beat Villarreal with a score of 3-1. This is the first away win for Xavi’s Blaugrana.
However, this result was not achieved easily. Xavi even admitted that he was a little lucky because Villarreal gave fierce resistance throughout the match.
On the other hand, Emery as the coach of Villarreal was not satisfied with this result. He criticized the performance of the referee who did not give his team a penalty despite two incidents in the Barcelona penalty box.
The two incidents in question were Gerard Pique’s handball and Eric Garcia’s foul on Raul Albiol. But the referee didn’t budge and didn’t use VAR.
According to Marca’s report, Xavi and Emery had an argument over the two incidents after the match in the stadium aisle. Surprisingly, the two had to be separated by the police before an argument turned into a fist fight.
The feud between the two has even started since the game was still running. Emery had satirized the Barcelona bench regarding the referee’s decision not to award a penalty.
“As usual, they give it to you,” shouted Emery onto the Barcelona bench.
But the tension between the two coaches did not last long. After calming down in the dressing room, Emery looked for Xavi to shake hands in a sign that they had reconciled.
“I really appreciate Xavi. We discussed moments in the game with that gesture, but still without physical contact,” concluded Emery.
