DBasia.news – Xavi Hernandez has started his duties as Barcelona coach. He led the Blaugrana’s inaugural practice at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, Tuesday (9/11) local time.

Xavi led the training just a day after being introduced as the new coach of Barcelona. Unfortunately, this session took place without the presence of the majority of the main players.

Most Barcelona players are currently on state duty in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Only six names, Inaki Pena, Neto, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Riqui Puig and Luuk de Jong, participated in this inaugural training session.

This condition certainly makes the training session not run optimally. Therefore, a number of junior players such as Ilias Akhomach, Comas, Mika Mármol, lvaro Sanz, Abde Ezzalzouli and Aranda were also involved.

Before starting training, Xavi gathered the players in the locker room. He gave a speech accompanied by club president, Joan Laporta.

Xavi also briefly greeted Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele in the locker room. The three midfielders are in the process of recovering from their injuries.

From the video on the official Barcelona website, the Drill session became the first menu in training. The players were divided into two groups to undergo this program.

Xavi also combined drills with short passes. Then the rondo session became the next menu given.

Xavi also slowly introduced the philosophy of the game he would use. This inaugural training session went seriously.

Gerard Pique and Eric Garcia who were injured watched the training session from the sidelines.

Xavi is scheduled to lead Barcelona’s return to training for the next three days. After that, the players have the weekend off.
