Xavi Hernandez admits he wants to return to Laliga to join Barcelona

DBasia.news – Barcelona’s intention to appoint Xavi Hernandez as a new coach seems to be coming true soon. Xavi has parted ways with his current team, Al Sadd.

Xavi is indeed the main candidate to occupy Barcelona’s coaching position after the dismissal of Ronald Koeman. But the club legend was initially reluctant to respond to these rumors and focused on his duties at Al-Sadd.

The Qatari club then confirmed their gesture to keep Xavi. Al Sadd is in a strong position because the coach is under contract until 2023.

However, a final decision was taken by Xavi after Al Sadd drew 3-3 against Al Duhail in the Qatar League. He took the moment to say goodbye to his players.

“I’ve been talking to Barca for days, and my job here is done. But now it depends on the conversation between the clubs, they need to reach an agreement,” Xavi said as quoted by Goal.

“I really want to go home and hope it happens. I have a contract and now the club has to negotiate. They already know my position.”

Xavi’s departure itself seems to have been approved by the Al Sadd players. Abdelkarim Hassan as the captain admitted that he could not do anything to prevent this from happening.

“Everyone is disappointed because of Xavi’s departure, but he will coach a big team like Barcelona. Xavi presented a new idea for Qatari football and Al-Sadd players,” Hassan said.

“He helped us as a great player and coach. His ideas allowed us to achieve a lot despite the criticism, so we will miss him very much.”

Barcelona officials themselves are now in Qatar to negotiate with Al Sadd. A deal is very likely in the next few hours.
