DBasia.news –  Swiss midfielder, Granit Xhaka, claimed he was interested in becoming Laurent Koscielny’s successor as Arsenal’s new captain.

Koscielny previously made the public in an uproar for refusing to participate in Arsenal’s pre-season tour in the United States. The 33-year-old player reportedly wants to continue his career in France.

Now, Manager Unai Emery as coach is looking for a new captain. The Spaniard stated that he has prepared five captains.

Xhaka himself claimed to be interested in the vacant captain position. But he hopes that all his team-mates will be involved as captains.

“Nobody talks about the armband,” Xhaka said.

“The coach hasn’t decided yet, but if I had the armband, of course I would be thrilled. “It’s something special, but in the end we all have to be captains on and off the field because we need everyone,” Xhaka added.
