DBasia.news – Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, responded to the comments of one Spanish League player who said Los Blancos was often assisted by referees.
Real Madrid won 2-1 when they visited Real Socieadad headquarters in the 2019-2020 LaLiga match, at the Reale Arena on Monday (6/22). Two goals scored by Madrid raised controversy.
Real Madrid took the lead when the second half ran 15 minutes after Sergio Ramos scored through the penalty spot. On that goal, Madrid was considered to have the advantage because when Vinicius Junior was fouled in the penalty box, there was no significant contact made by Real Sociedad player.
The controversy intensified after the return of Real Sociedad scored by Adnan Januzaj was canceled by the referee. The referee judged that there was a Sociedad player who covered Thibaut Courtois’s movements, but was in an offside position.
Next, the controversy occurred after Karim Benzema’s goal in the 70th minute was allowed. According to Real Sociedad fans, Benzema held the ball with his hand.
In response to that, Zinedine Zidane chose to be silenced. He did not want the performance of his squad not appreciated because the fight was considered full of controversy.
“I have not seen the incident. However, I got information if the penalty on Vinicius and Karim Benzema’s goal is legitimate,” said Zinedine Zidane, Marca reported.
“I do not want to enter the controversy because there are referees appointed for it. I just want to think about the victory we deserve,” continued the coach.
“It bothers me when it finally talks about the referee and seems to be doing nothing on the field. We don’t control what is said.”
“We won on the field and that’s what was done today. This is a victory that Real Madrid deserve,” he said.
The victory made Real Madrid displace Barcelona at the top of the standings. Both teams collected 65 points.
