Zinedine Zidane’s Bad Decisions Ends in a Defeat at Mallorca Headquarters
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Inconsistencies in plays and Zinedine Zidane’s poor decision were the reason for Real Madrid’s 0-1 defeat over Mallorca in the LaLiga match.
“The problem is we have to show how good we are every three days. That’s the challenging – we can’t afford that,” Zidane said, quoted by Marca.
“I’m not saying I’m worried because I don’t like the word, but if we want to win something this season, we have to be consistent,” he stressed.
A goal from Lago Junior in the seventh minute was enough for Mallorca to give Madrid their first defeat since 2006 at Son Moix. The first LaLiga defeat and at that time, Sergio Ramos and Zinedine Zidane played in the same team (Real Madrid).
The defeat happened, according to Muhammad Butt, author of Squawka, due to Zidane’s poor choice and poor judgment in the match against Mallorca.
“Tonight Zinedine Zidane’s poor decision and improper judgment, surprisingly, repeated the record of Madrid’s defeat since it last occurred in 2006,” wrote Butt.
In the match, Zidane’s selection of tactics was indeed somewhat unique and brave. Down in a 4-4-2 tactic, Zidane played Isco in midfield with Casemiro. The result was predictable: Mallorca’s midfield was able to ward off Madrid’s game, although the visitors dominated by 63 percent possession.
Iddrisu Baba and Salva Sevilla were dominant in Mallorca’s midfield. Baba even won the race for the ball 13 times. Madrid’s defeat dominated the ball in the middle of turning their game to the flank, but this also didn’t work either.
Vinicius Junior and James Rodriguez failed to show their quality and the situation worsen when Alvaro Odriozola was sent off on the 74th minute. This has forced Madrid to play from the left side of the game and Mallorca could easily guess their game.
Without a dangerous cross that can be shown by Madrid, plus dominance in midfield, Madrid’s game easily predicted Mallorca. As a result, Zidane’s rotation ahead of the Champions League match against Galatasaray, Wednesday (10/23) at 2:00 AM, failed to achieve positive results.
“(I feel) bad because we didn’t play as we wanted and in the end, starting the fight like this, it was difficult,” said Zidane.
“In the second half, we were a little nervous because there was no chance to score,” he explained.
Real Madrid now ranks second in LaLiga and one point adrift of Barcelona at the top of the table.
