Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Manchester United’s 4 other most Expensive Recruits

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

DBasia.news –  Two players have been recruited by Manchester United this summer. After recruiting Daniel James from Swansea City, the Red Devils managed to bring in Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

The purchase of Wan-Bissaka is a bold maneuver carried out by the Red Devils. The 21-year-old was brought in with no small amount of funds, 50 million pounds for a five-season contract period.

That amount has made Wan-Bissaka the fifth most expensive purchase in the history of Manchester United. No wonder that opinions has risen on the prices paid by United being too expensive.

Man United’s Expensive Purchase List

1. Paul Pogba (2016-17) – 89 million pounds

2. Romelu Lukaku (2017-18) – 75 million pounds

3. Angel Di Maria (2014-15) – 59.7 million pounds

4. Fred (2018-19) – 52 million pounds

5. Aaron Wan Bissaka (2019-20) – 50 million pounds

This is very reasonable, as United has a dark record of purchasing expensive players. Yes, the four names on the most expensive purchase list above Wan-Bissaka were indeed considered unable to perform optimally.

From Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Angel Di Maria, to Fred. After being brought in by United, Pogba was considered still below his best performance. Even though he appeared nicely, Pogba failed to display it consistently. Later, Pogba reportedly wanted to leave United.

Also with Romelu Lukaku, in the inaugural season with the Red Devils, Lukaku appeared well by collecting 27 goals. But last season his performance dropped and could only collect 15 goals. Unlike Pogba, Lukaku is also now rumored to be leaving Old Trafford.

What about Angel Di Maria? The Argentine player who was brought in from Real Madrid only lasted a year with United.

A bad record for the expensive Manchester United purchases was refined by Fred. Since joining last season, the Brazilian player has performed far below expectations and has become more of a warmer fot the substitute bench.

So, what is the fortune of Wan-Bissaka? Can he come out of a series of bad records from MU’s expensive purchases?
