AC Milan kicked out of the 2019 Europa League

DBasia.news –  AC Milan continued their negative period after failing to penetrate the Champions League zone and ending the season ranked fifth in Serie A last season. Milan are certain not to play in the 2019-20 Europa League season.

CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has confirmed through a statement on their official website. CAS prohibits the Rossoneri from appearing in the 2019 Europa League for violating UEFA rules, FFP (Financial Fair Play).

The seven-time Champions League champions have reached an agreement with UEFA to resign from the Europa League, even though Milan ended the season in fifth place in Serie A last season. Now, the CAS reinforces it.

“The CAS has discussed the issue of a related agreement between AC Milan and UEFA regarding FFP violations by the Italian club,” said a statement from CAS.

The CAS outlines seven points in their investigation into Milan. As a result, recaps from points one and two, CAS ejects Marco Giampaolo’s Milan from their participation in the 2019 Europa League.

“The decision taken by the UEFA Financial Supervisory Agency in the AC-05/2018 case on November 20 has been considered,” the CAS statement added.

“ii. The decision taken by the UEFA Investigation Agency and the UEFA Oversight Body on 10 April 2019 has been considered.”

“iii. Decisions taken from points i and ii above are replaced by decisions: ‘AC Milan were expelled from the UEFA Club Tournament participation in the 2019-20 season as a consequence of FFP violations throughout 2015, 2016, 2017 and the supervision period of 2016, 2017, 2018.”

That means Milan’s allotment in the 2019-20 Europa League group phase will be given to other clubs. It is alleged that Roma will fill that position and Torino will start from the qualification phase.
