DBasia.news – England midfielder Adam Lallana enjoyed Jurgen Klopp’s new role at Liverpool. The role was also played by Jorginho at Chelsea: anchor (pivot).
Klopp applauds the performance of Lallana who can play in that position. In front of the backline and the middle of the game, the former Southampton player can adjust the rhythm of play. It was a new position for him because he was supposed to play as an attacking midfielder.
Nevertheless, Lallana enjoyed it. He believes he can play that role well if Klopp often plays in the pivot position.
“This (new role) is fun. I played in that role several times in preseason and I am happy to be able to play anywhere. I enjoyed it, especially when receiving the ball,” Lallana said, quoted from Goal.
“There are still some aspects of the game that I need to improve and I’m sure I will learn when I play more in that role. I like to get minutes playing and building fitness.”
Lallana described the typical play that always wanted to be involved in the attack process that was built by the team. Easy, Lallana always wants to control the ball.
“(The manager) has mentioned that I can play there, I can play there. There is no formal talk, but I am happy to play there. I receive a lot of balls and I am the type of player who wants to (always) control the ball,” added Lallana.
“I feel I can make the team play, get the team out of difficult situations and give different aspects to Liverpool. As long as I can stay fit – and I have been building fitness for a long time – then I think I can give different qualities to Liverpool,” he explained.
