DBasia.news – Alvaro Morata, Atletico Madrid striker, also discussed the future of teammate, Antoine Griezmann. The player decided to leave and Morata asked Atletico to respect his decision.
Antoine Griezmann took a surprising step by leaving Atletico Madrid. In fact, the French national team player just extended the contract at the beginning of last season.
Griezmann’s departure is considered to have made Altetico lose their sharpness on the front lines. However, Morata asked his colleagues to get up immediately.
“We hope he can survive, but he has taken a decision like that. We finished this season, but we have the same excitement for next season,” Morata explained as Soccerway reported.
“Change is always difficult, but we are working to make a competitive team and fight in the next season,” said the attacker.
We are very motivated in the locker room regarding the future. That’s very important.”
Circulating news have stated that currently Antoine Griezmann has a big chance to join Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain. The two clubs have the financial strength to redeem the player’s release clause which reached 125 million euros. Morata stressed that he did not know Griezmann’s final decision.
“Everyone knows he goes in his own way. It depends on what we have with him,” Morata said.
“It doesn’t matter what the situation is. We have to accept and keep going,” continued the Spaniard.
Atletico Madrid brought in Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad in July 2014. At that time, Los Rojiblancos disbursed funds up to 30 million euros.
