DBasia.news – Antonio Conte, Inter Milan coach, revealed the target he wanted to achieve with La Beneamata in the 2019-20 season. Conte, emphatically, said he wanted to end Juventus’ dominance in Serie A.
As if not having an emotional bond with the club that has been strengthened and trained, Conte wants to bring Inter back to compete for the Serie A title. Inter last won it in 2010.
“Inter for the title? When I started a new adventure the club always hoped a lot for me. The players were confident to develop, fans hoped for great satisfaction,” Conte said at Calciomercato.
“This means that I have to evaluate my choices very carefully. I am aware of that and thus I have answered these questions. I can receive a few opportunities for the champions at the beginning, but that (mentality) must be here.”
“Let’s face it, apart from a rare exception (the Calciopoli scandal), there have been no battles for the Serie A title for eight seasons. Inter want to change it and by moving it shows the desire to compete,” Conte stressed.
The former Juventus captain in mid-1991-2004 did have a good record in the affairs of winning the trophy. Conte once won three Scudetto when refining Juventus (2011-2014) and a Premier League title when training Chelsea (2016-2018).
In addition to discussing the ambitions in his first season training Samir Handanovic et al, Conte also revealed three main figures who convinced him to join the club’s ambitious project.
The three figures are: Giuseppe Marotta (CEO of Inter), Steven Zhang (Inter President), and Piero Ausilio (Inter Sports Director)
“Marotta? He helped me. It was the confirmation of the impression I received from a distance. Marotta, a director who has won a lot. If you recruit him shortly after Juve released him, this means you have serious intentions,” Conte added.
“Zhang? Not only Marotta convinced me. When I spoke to President Zhang, I was amazed by his determination. Ausilio himself also had a very clear idea.”
“Inter is an ambitious club and everything leads to the same direction. My first concept? We can do it, we have no limits,” concluded the man born in Lecce, July 31, 1969.
