DBasia.news – Antonio Rudiger has recovered from injury. The former Stuttgart and AS Roma formidable defender appeared for Chelsea’s U-23 team and this is good news for Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard.
As reported by Goal, Rudiger played with Michy Batshuayi when Chelsea U-23 won 3-0 over Liverpool U-23 in Premier League 2. The match was witnessed directly by Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.
The news was clearly good for Lampard. As the Chelsea central defender currently leaves only Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, and Fikayo Tomori. The presence of Rudiger can add to the experience in the area.
Chelsea needed an experienced central defender after losing Gary Cahill and David Luiz. Rudiger can provide it to him if he later plays to accompany Christensen or Zouma. Rudiger already has 30 caps and one goal with the German national team.
Rudiger suffered a serious knee injury in April against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Since then, the 26-year-old player had missed Chelsea’s crucial games at the end of the season when the team was still coached by Maurizio Sarri.
