Arjen Robben Decides to Return from Retirement

DBasia.news – Former Dutch national team winger Arjen Robben made a shocking decision. Nearly a year after deciding to retire, Robben claimed to be playing on the gridiron again. Arjen Robben is known to be strengthening his childhood club, Groningen. He wants to help the club to get out of the crisis because of the Corona Virus pandemic.

Arjen Robben chose Groningen as the club he played in after coming back from retirement. Groningen is the club where he played in the academy from 1996-2000 and also in the first team from 2000 to 2002.

The 2019-20 Eredivisie had originally been decided to end by the KNVB without champions and teams that were promoted or degraded due to the corona virus pandemic. No doubt Robben became the ‘new’ Groningen recruitment for the 2020-21 season.

Had been troubled decided to stay retired or play football Robben also made a decision to follow his heart. The 96 caps and 37 goals with the Dutch national team finally decided to return to play with Groningen.

“The club can use any assistance during this period to overcome the corona crisis. I myself also participated in various actions and also think about what else I can do for our club,” Robben said on the official Groningen website.

“In the last few weeks I have done a lot of consultations with people in the club and perhaps the most listened to the actions of supporters, ‘Arjen, follow your heart’.”

“His return as a FC Groningen player – it started to itch and now this is my mission. I am trying to get back as a footballer. I do not yet know if this will work. What I know is that it will not depend on my commitment and motivation.” explained Robben.

Throughout his professional career Robben has defended Groningen, PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. His greatest success was achieved at Bayern which he strengthened from mid 2009 to 2019.

During 10 years with Bavarian giants Robben won eight Bundesliga titles, one Champions League, European Super Cup and five DFB Pokal. That adds to the collection of other titles such as the Premier League, FA Cup and LaLiga.
