Barcelona’s Mileage Lost to Slavia Prague

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  After losing 3-1 against Levante in LaLiga, FC Barcelona had to settle for a goalless draw when against Slavia Prague in the Champions League.

Barcelona dominates possession as much as 63 percent, releasing 14 kicks and six of them on target. However, it was not enough to penetrate the meeting of the Slavic defense and the toughness of Ondrej Kolar, Slavia Prague’s goalkeeper.

The spotlight was immediately directed at Ernesto Valverde, the Barcelona coach. His team has starred with individual qualities above average, but the former Athletic Bilbao coach was unable to maximize it well.

Not only that, but there are also alarming statistics raised by Sport-English regarding the mileage or cruising average of Barcelona players against Slavia plus in the 2019-20 Champions League group F trip.

Barcelona only traveled a total of 111 kilometers in Camp Nou, while Slavas 125 kilometers. That shows that Slavic players run more than Barcelona players.

Indeed, there is no guarantee the team will win with only capital and fighting spirit because of the most important outcome and goals – for some teams: the style of play. However, at least Slavia showed an effort to win something at Camp Nou (and they got one point).

Barcelona is not a team of fighters in terms of mileage because they have the ability of individual players above average and have a superstar, Lionel Messi. Nevertheless, the lessons of the match against Liverpool in the Champions League last season should not be forgotten by Barcelona.

The player with the most distance for Barcelona at Camp Nou is Frenkie de Jong (46 kilometers), followed by Clement Lenglet (39 kilometers). The record still lost to Tomas Soucek, a Slavia player, who painted more than 50 kilometers in four matches – an average of more than 12 kilometers per match.

The positive is that the match against Slavia at Camp Nou is the record for the most distance for Barca compared to the previous three matches against Borussia Dortmund (104,191 kilometers), Inter Milan (104,593 kilometers), and Slavia (106,967 kilometers).

Seeing the lack of determination or struggle of the Barcelona players, it is natural that fans at the Camp Nou whistle them when they go to the players’ dressing room.
