DBasia.news – Bayern Munich is very serious about the future of the team by regenerating the latest squad. Quoted from Bayern’s official website, they successfully recruited a French pass defender, Lucas Hernandez.
Bayern bought Hernandez for 80 million euros from Atletico Madrid and tied it with a five-year contract (2024). Hernandez will join Niko Kovac’s squad on July 1, 2019.
“I am very happy that we were able to secure one of the world’s best defenders and also the World Cup winner (2018), Lucas Hernandez,” said Bayern Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic.
“Lucas can play as a central defender and also a left back. Moreover, Lucas will continue our great tradition of French football and improve our team,” continued the man who also played for Bayern in mid-1998-2007.
Hernandez’s arrival follows his compatriot who was first recruited by Bayern, Benjamin Pavard, from VfB Stuttgart. Both are positioned as defenders or rather left and right defenders. The Bayern squad’s revolution started from the back line.
Hernandez, 23, will be a valuable asset to compete with David Alaba if he plays left back, as well as coatings Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng if playing as a central defender.
While Pavard will be projected as competitor Joshua Kimmich at right-back position. The presence of the 22-year-old player was allegedly going to eject Rafinha from Bayern Munich aka sold.
“This is my most important day in a football career. FC Bayern Munich is the best club in Europe and the world. I am proud to be able to fight for all the titles available with Bayern,” Hernandez said.
“I want to thank management, coaches, teammates, and fans for a wonderful 12 years. Atletico will always be in me. Now, I look forward to the next step with FC Bayern.”
Bayern’s steps on recruiting Hernandez is quite brave. ‘secause, 15 caps packers with the French national team were injured ligaments on the knee of his right leg and will undergo surgery today.
“Throughout the medical tests, we found damage to the ligaments in the right knee of the player who needed surgery. Based on experience, Lucas Hernandez can strengthen FC Bayern at the start of the Bundesliga 2019-20 season,” said Doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, Bayern Medical Team Chair.
