In conducting research, CIES analyzed spectator data coming to the stadium in 51 competitions in 42 countries. However, due to various limitations, they only explored 26 of them.

From these data, it is known the number of spectators who attended the stadium in the last five years. The chosen period is from the 2013-2014 season until 2017-2018.

The result was unexpected because the club with the highest number of spectators was Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund can bring in an average of 80,230 spectators every match.

This amount makes the audience that comes to the Borussia Dortmund match more than the top European clubs. Call it Manchester United, Barcelona, ​​Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid.

In the top 10 lists released by CIES, five of them are German clubs. Of these, one of them did not compete in the highest caste of The Bundesliga this time.
