Bringing Attackers Becomes Tottenham Hotspur’s Priority

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Jose Mourinho said that Tottenham Hotspur’s priority at the moment is to bring in a coating striker for Harry Kane ahead of the 2020-2021 Premiere League season.

The England captain carried a heavy burden at Tottenham last season as he was the club’s only pure center-forward and suffered a serious hamstring injury in the new year. Kane scored 18 goals in the 2019/20 season.

While the 27-year-old has recovered and will spearhead the Spurs squad at home to Everton on Sunday, Mourinho said he desperately needed backup options.

“I want, I need a striker, but I want to make it very, very clear that the club knows that I need a striker and also want a striker,” Mourinho told a press conference via Zoom, quoted by Reuters on Friday (11/9).

“Are we going to get it? To be honest I’m sure. For the balance of the squad, the team needs it because now the team is getting more balanced, with different options for different positions.”

Tottenham often played with a single striker supported by players like Son Heung-min under Mauricio Pochettino and now with Mourinho.

Son Heung-min himself scored 11 times in the opponent’s goal in the Premiere League last season.

Mourinho’s first season with Tottenham was relatively quiet in the transfer market, only bringing in full-back Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers and midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.
