European monarchs with 13 Champions League titles Real Madrid lost a shock 2-3 against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk at Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Shakhtar even had a 3-0 lead over goals from Tete (29′), Raphael Varane (33′) and Manor Solomon (42′).

Zinedine Zidane’s Los Blancos were only able to respond in the second half to goals from Luka Modric (54′) and Vinicius Junior (59′), but after that no more goals were scored. Luis Castro’s Shakhtar was able to dampen Madrid’s game.

The hosts dominated as much as 59 percent of ball possession with a total of 12 kicks and five on target, while Shakhtar had six kicks and five on target (three goals).

As a result Madrid are now at the bottom of the group standings without points behind Shakhtar (three points) and Borussia Monchengladbach and Inter Milan who drew 2-2. Madrid have now lost twice in a row in all competitions after losing 0-1 to Cadiz in LaLiga.

Meanwhile, defending Champions League champions Bayern Munich scored a 4-0 goal feast against Atletico Madrid. Entertaining Diego Simeone’s team at the Allianz Arena, four Bayern goals were scored by two goals from Kingsley Coman (28′, 72′), Leon Goretzka (41′) and Corentin Tolisso (66′).
