Chelsea Will Not Bring in Edinson Cavani

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea management closed the opportunity to bring in Paris Saint-Germain striker, Edinson Cavani. Even though Cavani is now certain to leave PSG at the end of this season.

Both players’ contracts will expire on June 30 and Leonardo told Le Journal du Dimanche that they will not be renewed.

Cavani, who joined PSG from Napoli in 2013, is PSG’s all-time top scorer with 200 goals in all competitions and has played 301 appearances.

“It was a difficult decision made, they are players who have carved the club’s history,” Leonardo said. “We have to make decisions based on logic.”

Cavani and Thiago Silva will still be involved in the Champions League match, which is expected to be completed in August. PSG has qualified for the quarter-finals after getting rid of Borussia Dortmund in the top 16.

PSG was named Ligue 1 champions on April 30 when this season’s competition was stopped as part of the country’s efforts to head off a new corona virus pandemic.

Aside from Cavani and Thiago Silva, Leonardo also mentioned several other names that were most likely to leave the club. Among the names are Thomas Meunier, Layvin Kurzawa, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

In January, Cavani had actually asked the club to release him. At that time, several clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea were reportedly interested in accommodating the Uruguay striker.

Now, after being confirmed not to be at PSG next season, Cavani has been linked with Chelsea again. The Blues are looking for an experienced figure on the front lines.

However, Football London reported that Chelsea were no longer interested in Cavani. Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard is reportedly interested in Cavani. The amount of salary is said to be one of the reasons. Cavani is currently receiving 360 thousand per week at PSG.

Certainty Chelsea’s withdrew from the hunt for Cavani can also not be separated from the arrival of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and the contract extension of Olivier Giroud.
