Chris Smalling Will Stay at AS Roma until Next Season
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling is rumored to be extending his loan period at AS Roma until the 2020/2021 season.
Smalling seems to be comfortable in Rome. Therefore he wants to continue to defend the Giallorossi next season.
Reporting from Corriere dello Sport, Smalling has expressed his desire to survive. Rome management also began to arrange strategies to achieve this.
Roma’s sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi is said to have contacted Manchester United to discuss Smalling’s future. Because they do not have enough money, city rivals Lazio will try to extend the loan period to one season in the future.
At the start of this season, Roma borrowed Smalling for one season at a cost of 3 million Euros. Similar offers will be re-submitted with permanent purchase options.
Smalling has indeed become a different figure with Rome. His reputation as a defender who often blunders in the Premier League is completely invisible.
Instead, Smalling would become one of the cornerstones of Rome’s strength in defense. He has performed 28 times this season.
Smalling’s desire to stay has certainly thrilled Roma coach, Paulo Fonseca. From the beginning the 47-year-old man did want to keep the player.
