‘Congratulations to the national football squad’
DBasia.news – KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Under-23 football team’s sensational victory over South Korean Under-23 team in the 2018 Asian Games tonight attracted Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s attention.
Dr Mahathir on Twitter today congratulates Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s coaching team who beat South Korea 2-1.
“Congratulations to the national football team in the Asian Games for victory. Malaysia Boleh!, “he said, currently in China for a five-day official visit there.
In Group E’s action at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Malaysia wasn’t fearful facing the high-ranking team when leading in the fourth minute with Muhammad Safawi Rasid’s goal, and once again adding another goal in the 45th minute.
Malaysia’s Under-23 team goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Nadzli defended the goal well before South Korea’s Hwang Ui Jo struck a goal in the 87th minute.
With the win, Malaysia’s young squad now tops Group E with six points, qualifying for the second round.
Malaysia is scheduled to meet Bahrain in the group’s final match on Monday.
