Contract Negotiations Deadlocked, Jesse Lingard Could Potentially Leave Manchester United
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Jesse Lingard faces question marks over his future at Manchester United. Negotiations for his new contract hit a dead end.
Jesse Lingard’s contract at Manchester United expires at the end of this season. That means Lingard could sign a pre-contract agreement with an interested club in January.
According to reports from a number of British media such as Sky Sports and the BBC, negotiations on renewing Lingard’s contract with Manchester United have stalled. However, both parties are said to still want to fix it.
Lingard returns to Manchester United ahead of the 2021/2022 season after a successful loan spell at West Ham United. In July, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested that Lingard was part of his plans for the season.
However, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo made Lingard’s opportunities to play limited. The MU academy dropout has only started once, when the Red Devils were beaten by West Ham in the third round of the English League Cup in September.
Overall, Lingard has only made eight appearances for United in all competitions this season. He scored two goals in five appearances in the Premier League.
At the international break last October, Lingard said he needed to play regularly to maintain his chances of playing at the 2022 World Cup with England. Given the existing situation, the 28-year-old player did not rule out a move in the January transfer window on loan or permanent.
