DBasia.news –  Cristiano Ronaldo continued to show his superiority in the Champions League. CR7 scored when Juventus visited Johan Cruyff Arena, the headquarters of Ajax Amsterdam, in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, Thursday (11/4) WIB.

Only playing again after recovering from injury, Ronaldo scored a goal right on the 45th minute when he headed the ball from his compatriot’s cross, Joao Cancelo. That became the 125th goal in the Champions League.

Without that goal Ronaldo has already become the all-time top scorer of the Champions League above Lionel Messi (108 goals). Now, with his goal against Ajax, Ronaldo has continued to set the highest standard that the next generation may find challenging to pass.

The 125 goals from Ronaldo were created from 161 matches in the Champions League. In addition to scoring goals, Ronaldo has also given 39 assists and won five Champions League titles. The number of goals is predicted to continue to grow.

The 34-year-old is firmly standing at number one in the all-time Champions League top scorer: Messi, Raul (71 goals), Karim Benzema (60 goals), Ruud van Nistelrooy (56 goals), Robert Lewandowski (53 goals), Thierry Henry (50 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (48 goals), Andriy Shevchenko (48 goals), and Filippo Inzaghi (46 goals).

The ferocity of Ronaldo’s goal scoring could not be separated from the transformation of the role that has begun from Real Madrid a few years ago. No longer acting as a wing striker, Ronaldo is more active acting as a central striker.

Matthijs de Ligt, Ajax defender, was amazed by Ronaldo’s sharp goal after facing him directly in the Champions League.

“The greatest quality of Ronaldo, apart from his talent, is his ability as a predator in the penalty box. He sees an opportunity, with very little space, and he moves very swiftly. He runs into the area between two players,” De Ligt told Football -Italy.

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final will take place at Juventus Stadium, Wednesday (17/4) at 2:00 a.m. WIB. Before playing the match, Juve could ensure the eighth consecutive Scudetto title when playing at the SPAL headquarters in the Serie A continuing match,  Saturday (13/4) at 20.00 WIB.
