DBasia.news – Juventus showed their strength when defeating AC Milan 1-0 in the Italian Super Cup at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Thursday (17/1).

Without the injured Mario Mandzukic, Cristiano Ronaldo was the bomber within the 4-3-3 scheme of Massimiliano Allegri. He was supported by Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa in the front line.

Milan sent the same formation. Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso benched Gonzalo Higuain and placed Patrick Cutrone as the center-forward, along with Samu Castillejo and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Milan did a great start and played quickly. Juventus got overwhelmed before tackling the pressure and managing the midfield depending on Miralem Pjanic.

The match went open. Juve created the chances from Douglas Costa, Pjanic, Joao Cancelo, and Ronaldo. Meanwhile, Milan threatened with their counter-attacks.

Milan’s performance really represents Gattuso’s characteristics: passionate, fiery, and high determination. They also created the chance by Calhanoglu’s kick who got countered by Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny.

At least, Milan could equalize Juve’s performance in the first half. The first half with two additional minutes ended with no goal at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo showed his class as a top player in the big match. At 61′, Ronaldo did the onside when he welcomed the passing from Pjanic and did a heading to Milan that couldn’t be countered by Gianluigi Donnarumma. 1-0 for Juventus.

Milan tried to respond. Unfortunately, the situation was getting more difficult for Milan to do it because at 73′ Kessie got the second yellow cards. Kessie did a foul to Emre Can.

Juventus managed the situation really well. The presences of Fabio Borini, Higuain, and Andrea Conti didn’t give any significant impact for Milan. Juve successfully preserved the 1-0 dominance until the final whistle.

Ronaldo’s goal broke the individual and collective records. From the collective side, Juve became the team with the most Italian Super Cup trophies (8 times).

For the personal achievement, Ronaldo won four Super Cup in four different leagues with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and now Juventus.
