Croatia to Final, Perisic Made Her Mom’s Dream Came True

By db-admin

DBasia.newsThe underdog team, Croatia, ran fast to the final round of 2018 World Cup. Surprisingly, the Vatreni entered the final round after defeating England 2-1 in Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Thursday (12/7).

Croatia made a history as the smallest country, with less than 4 million population, who performed in the final round of World Cup, since Uruguay in 1950. Not only that, Croatia is also the team with the lowest FIFA ranking (20) who went to the final round of all time.

After the match, Croatia winger, also a man of the match, Ivan Perisic, said he was very happy and moved to perform in final round later, his dream since long time ago.

“I was back in Omis, my hometown, 20 years ago. I rooted for Croatia, wearing a Croatia jersey, and I could only dream of playing for my country and scoring one of the most important goals to send us to a final,” he said.

“I spoke to my mother a few days ago and she said it is her dream to see Croatia play France in the final. Now her dream has come true.”

Croatia’s victory to the final round is related closely with the team character.

Strong character and mental are shown by Zlatko Dalic squad, especially during the qualification round. During the match versus England, Croatia was left when Kieran Trippier scored a goal from free kick. This also happened during the 16 groups and quarterfinal. But Croatia came as the victory.

“It was a very difficult game, we all know what was at stake and how important a semi-final is for a small country like Croatia,” said Perisic released by FIFA site.

“We started slowly but we’ve shown our character, just as we have in the previous two knockout rounds when we were one goal down in both matches. We didn’t use to be that resilient.”
