DBasia.news – Christian Eriksen, the attacking midfielder from Denmark, was targeted by Real Madrid in the transfer market this summer. Reportedly, Tottenham Hotspur did not mind selling his players to Madrid.
The 27-year-old player’s contract will expire in 2020. According to news published by Marca, Eriksen did not want to extend the contract with the club that he has strengthened from 2013.
Knowing this fact, Daniel Levy, President of Tottenham Hotspur, reportedly contacted Jose Angel Sanchez, General Manager of Madrid, and offered Eriksen and mentioned the worth of the ex-Ajax Amsterdam player.
Levy wants to sell Eriksen in the transfer market this summer rather than let him go next year for free, as does Aaron Ramsey who went from Arsenal to Juventus. Initially, Spurs sold him for 150 million euros.
However, the bid at a price of 70 million euros is predicted to be enough for interested clubs (or Madrid) to bring in Eriksen. Madrid has so far not made an offer as they have purchased six players – spending 303 million euros.
Instead of targeting the player with 89 caps and 27 goals for the Danish national team, Madrid is targeting Paul Pogba, the Manchester United midfielder, with an alternative target, Donny van de Beek, Ajax Amsterdam midfielder.
Christian Eriksen’s chance to head to Real Madrid: 40%
Madrid will no longer spend a lot of money without having to sell several players first. In the midst of strict FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules, Madrid will only recruit Eriksen if the price drops and fail to recruit Pogba or Van de Beek.
