David de Gea Apologizes After Breaking Peter Schmeichel’s Record

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has just broken the record of Manchester United goalkeeper legend Peter Schmeichel. Although he felt proud, he apologized to Peter for feeling bad.

David de Gea played his 399th Premier League match when Manchester United defeat Aston Villa three goals without reply. With that note, De Gea becomes a player outside the United Kingdom who has the most number of appearances for Manchester United. The goalkeeper passed Peter Schmeichel’s record.

“Sorry for Schmeichel. That’s good, because I mean it’s been a long time here and has been playing very well at the top level. I’m proud,” explained David de Gea to MUTV.

David de Gea joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011. He is still quite far from the score of a player with the most appearances for Manchester United held by Ryan Giggs with 963 matches.

“I have performed at this club for many matches. Hopefully I have 400 more matches. So, I am really happy,” the goalkeeper said.

Meanwhile, related to the achievement of Manchester United who have never lost in the last 17 matches, De Gea does not want to be conceited. He reminded his colleagues if they had not achieved anything.

“Of course, we are very confident at the moment. However, we have not done anything,” the goalkeeper said.

“We have some important matches to come so we have to be very focused. We need to maintain the level displayed in the last four matches.”

“We are in a good mood, a good way, so we continue to look forward to the next match,” said the player who was linked with Real Madrid.
