David de Gea on Manchester United’s goalkeeper competition

By db-admin

DBasia.news – David De Gea has appeared less consistent with Manchester United this season. Even so, he remains confident in being MU’s main goalkeeper.

De Gea has often been criticized for his poor performance in the 2019/2020 season. He was especially criticized after making a fatal blunder when United fell at the hands of Chelsea 1-3 in the FA Cup semi-final.

The Spanish goalkeeper came under the spotlight when he failed to stem Sevilla’s two goals in the last four of the Europa League, Monday (17/8/2020) AM. As a result, the Red Devils fell 1-2 and had to bury their dreams of stepping into the finals.

In total throughout the 2019/2020 season, De Gea has conceded 44 times from 43 appearances in all competitions. There is also the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper who only recorded 15 clean sheets in all competitions.

The inconsistent performance of David De Gea has made several parties hope that MU will immediately dismiss the 29-year-old player. A few has also asked manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to recall the MU goalkeeper who was loaned to Sheffield United, Dean Henderson.

All criticisms addressed to De Gea do not seem to diminish his confidence as MU’s number one goalkeeper. De Gea remains confident that he will be able to show his best performance again for the next season.

“I believe in myself. I have shown my quality over the years, so I am still ready for the manager,” said David De Gea, quoted by Omnisport.

“I’m always ready to play and try to help the team as usual, as I always have,” he added.
