DBasia.news – Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is optimistic that David de Gea will be willing to extend the contract.
David de Gea’s tie at Manchester United will end at the end of this season. Not wanting to lose one of the best goalkeepers in the world, the club nicknamed the Red Devils has also offered a long-term contract extension.
However, until now De Gea has not been willing to sign a new contract offered by Man United. Reportedly, De Gea and the agent, Jorge Mendes, submitted a large salary increase request.
At present, the Spanish goalkeeper has an income of 240,000 pounds, or around Rp. 4.4 billion per week. Reportedly, De Gea wants an equivalent salary of Alexis Sanchez, which is equal to 500,000 pounds (Rp. 9,3 billion) per week.
“There is no latest news from me, the club and David are still negotiating, hopefully, they reach an agreement. This is out of my control but I am sure we will do what can be done,” Solskjaer said.
“David has been fantastic since his arrival. The club shows how much they want him from the start,” he said.
If Man United does not fulfill the request, it is not impossible De Gea will leave Old Trafford. Moreover, with its quality, not a few European elite clubs who want his services.
