Dean Henderson Called England to Replace Tom Heaton
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Sheffield United’s loan goalkeeper from Manchester United, Dean Henderson officially gets the England national team call for the first time. Henderson must replace injured Tom Heaton ahead of the 2020 European Cup qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who was on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, will enter the squad of 24 Gareth Southgate players on Wednesday after Heaton returned to Aston Villa after suffering an injury during a win against Norwich City last weekend.
Henderson was criticized by his manager, Chris Wilder after giving Liverpool a 1-0 win at Bramall Lane on September 28, which Southgate witnessed, but responded to the defeat with a clean sheet series against Watford on Saturday.
Henderson, who has defended England U-16 and U-21 national teams, will visit the Czech Republic and Bulgaria along with goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope for Group A qualifying matches respectively Thursday and Monday.
England top the group standings with 12 perfect points from four matches and will qualify for the finals next year if they beat second-placed Czech, who have nine points from five matches. Bulgaria ranks bottom with two points from five matches.
