Defeat Dundalk, Mikel Arteta Admits That He Is Satisfied with His Squad’s Performance

DBasia.news – Arsenal managed to secure three points when entertaining Dundalk in the second European League Group B match at the Emirates Stadium, Friday (30/10) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Mikel Arteta’s side won 3-0 with goals scored by Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock and Nicolas Pepe.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made ten changes to his side following their 1-0 Premier League defeat against Leicester City, with Granit Xhaka the only player to keep his place.
But in the first half, the Gunners were frustrated by the Dundalk defense and only opened the scoring in the 42nd minute through Nkeitah. The score immediately turned 2-0 when Willock scored two minutes later, and Pepe got his name on the scoresheet early in the second half.
Arteta then made changes as the match progressed, with Folarin Balogun making his first-team debut for the Gunners. Arteta admitted that he was satisfied that his team could beat Dundalk. According to him, Dundalk is a solid team and has a philosophy.
They, said Arteta, can adapt quickly and maintain their playing style. He considered Dundalk a team that was very committed and tried very hard to control the ball.
“I am very happy with the way we run the game. Our attitude from the start is very right. We know they will be in the low block and we handle it well. We got the right goal at the right moment and after that we set the situation,” said Arteta as quoted from Football London, Friday (30/10).
“We can give opportunities to players who have not played for a few minutes this season and they show that they are there when we need them,” concluded Arteta.
