DBasia.news – Denis Irwin, Manchester United legend, was not surprised by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s 50 million pound worth. Irwin stated that the price tag would become a normal thing in the future.
Wan-Bissaka, 21, was purchased by United from Crystal Palace to fill the team’s right-back position after the departure of Antonio Valencia. He has played his debut when United won 2-0 against Perth Glory in the preseason trial match.
Irwin, who used to be a full-back, sees the England U-21 national team defender as a fast player and represented a modern full-back. He hoped that Wan-Bissaka could fulfill the public’s expectations with his worth.
“He (Wan-Bissaka) is very fast, a modern full-back and in fact he was a wing attacker, he played very well in the last 15 months and I have seen him at Crystal Palace in a defensive role,” said Irwin, quoted from Goal.
“There is a lot of pressure on him now, but hopefully he can handle it. We need a little speed and youth in the team. He and Dan James looks quite humble. I saw him in the training session and they seemed quiet.”
“There is nothing wrong with that, they must continue to do so and work hard as they have a great chance at this time playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and they have to love him. You have to ignore the transfer. I think £ 50 million for the full-back position would be a normal price, “explained Irwin.
Wan-Bissaka has also predicted the high pressure placed on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
“I had expected (pressure) when I came here. This (United) is a big club. I would not be here if it wasn’t for Crystal Palace, so the public’s attention is always here. I just have to play my game and give proof,” said Wan-Bissaka.
