Despite Losing, Solskjaer Praises Man United Young Player’s Appearance

DBasia.news –  Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, praised the young players who made their debut with the senior team despite losing to FC Astana. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought in seven players from the Manchester United junior team when The Red Devils met FC Astana in the Europa League, Thursday (11/28/2019).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave several young Manchester United players an opportunity such as Dylan Levitt, James Garner, Di’Shon Bernard, and Angel Gomes to show off against Astana. They were combined with several young players with higher flight hours namely Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood.

The result, Manchester United took the lead through Jesse Lingard’s goal in the 10th minute. However, Astana retaliated through the actions of Dmitriy Shomko and Di’Shon Bernard’s own goal.

Although his team lost, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still gave his compliments. Solskjaer rates, the match is good for adding playing time for young players.

“There must be something positive. Of course we are disappointed with the final results, but I think we started playing fantastically. The players controlled the game and they scored fantastic goals,” explained Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as reported by the Daily Mail.

“The response after the opposing team scored two goals was also good. Of course we were disappointed at the time of 10 minutes, you could feel the pressure. We could not get the ball like before,” continued the manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does look consistent to make the match against Astana a stage for young players. Although being left behind, the players entered also still had minimal playing hours.

“However, there is a fantastic game displayed by three young players who made their debuts. I think some of the young players I brought with me benefited from the loan period,” Solskjaer explained.

Despite losing, Manchester United still leads the standings by collecting 10 points. The Red Devils will play AZ Alkmaar in the final Group L match.
