DBasia.news – Diego Simeone has a philosophy when choosing a club to train. According to Atletico Madrid’s coach, the club’s history is important. Simeone also discussed several major European clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Ajax Amsterdam, and Real Madrid.
After venturing to strengthen various clubs such as Lazio, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone finally continued his career as a coach. Simeone is known as one of the coaches who can make the most of the squad.
So far, Diego Simeone has led Atletico to the LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Europa League titles. In addition, Los Rojiblancos has also penetrated the Champions League final under his leadership.
As a coach, the man from Argentina revealed some important things for him before accepting the offer. Diego Simeone will ask about the history of the club when it first set foot.
“When coaches arrive at a team, we must understand their history. If we don’t understand, we are destined to feel the dark times. If I don’t feel the essence, I will not join,” Simeone said as reported by SportBible.
“At the beginning of joining the best and noble thing is to ask: ‘What is the history of this club?’ “It is needed to connect playing style with club history. But, of course, you will still be yourself,” said the coach.
Diego Simeone revealed that some of the clubs he valued had a long history, namely Ajax Amsterdam, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona. Meanwhile, Manchester City and Real Madrid have a different storyline.
“Ajax has a team academy, Barcelona has, Juventus does, and Atletico Madrid. However, Real Madrid does not because the club changes according to talent in showing themselves,” said Simeone.
“There are also new clubs such as Manchester City that have no history. However, slowly starting to show themselves along with Pep Guardiola who led his journey,” he explained.
Diego Simeone was rumored to be training Inter Milan in the 2018-2019 season. But, in fact, the 49-year coach extended the contract until June 2022.
