Discussion of the 2018-19 Champions League Final between Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool will host Tottenham Hotspur in the continuing week 10 of the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday (10/27) 23.30. Both are 2018-19 Champions League finalists.
Understandably, Liverpool met with Tottenham in the final which took place at Wanda Metropolitano, Madrid. The match ended 2-0 for the Reds through goals scored by Mohamed Salah (2 ‘penalty) and Divock Origi (87’).
The memory is divided into two versions. Happiness for Liverpool and a dark memory for Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham’s manager, recalls that moment.
“Being a Champions League runner-up doesn’t mean anything to us because playing in the Champions League final is about getting a trophy or not at all,” said Pochettino, as reported by Dailymail.
“Being able to reach the Champions League final is very meaningful for the players and staff. But unfortunately, the players and staff feel empty after the final, as they failed to become champions,” he continued.
In contrast, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, did not want to dissolve in the euphoria of the Champions League final. Klopp is more interested in discussing the decline in Tottenham’s current performance, which he said would not reduce the preparation of his team ahead of the game later.
“We won the Champions League final, we know that. I think we were very respectful at that moment with our celebration, but still we were another stronghold that night,” Klopp stated, quoted by Sky Sports.
“That is another additional motivation to fix things, it’s clear, but in the end football is a match between two very good teams. The situation around won’t make a big difference.”
Contrary to Liverpool, who are firmly on top of the standings with 25 points, have are undefeated, Tottenham are in seventh with 12 points and have lost three.
“We will not be so sure that nothing will happen to us and they will not … I’m not sure how many points they have, but they will not play as well as their points,” Klopp added.
“They are the top Premier League team and they will be the top team in the entire Premier League season. We have to appreciate it and play football as best we can,” he explained.
