Eden Hazard Admits to Wanting Number 10, Luka Modric

DBasia.news –  Real Madrid wing striker, Eden Hazard, has been in Madrid and introduced at the Santiago Bernabeu. In his first chance to speak to the media, Hazard admitted he wanted number 10, Luka Modric.

The number is identical to him and is also worn at Chelsea, a club that he has been strengthening since 2012 to 2019. While in Madrid, the number has been owned by Modric who has been strengthening Madrid since 2012.

Hazard admitted that he wanted the number. While still at Chelsea, Hazard spoke to Modric through his compatriot and Madrid loan player, Mateo Kovacic, regarding the availability of the number.

“I was fortunate enough to speak to Modric through Kovacic. I joked and asked if he would let me use the number 10 and he said no,” Hazard said, quoted from the official website of Madrid.

“I have to find another number, but it’s not important, playing for the club is the main thing,” he continued.

Hazard, 28 years old, was also humbled when he was called a star in the Los Galacticos volume III project. He considered that he was not worthy of being called a star and hoped to be the best player in the world with a club that had won 13 Champions League titles.

“I haven’t become a galactico (star) yet. I hope I will be like that one day. I am Eden Hazard and everything I have done in the past is no longer counted,” said Hazard.

“It’s a clear statement. I started from the beginning and I think I’m not yet a galactico, only a very good player.”

“I will also do my best (to be the best player in the world). But first, I want to play for the best team in the world. I have enjoyed a lot of success with Chelsea and I also want to win a lot with Real Madrid,” Hazard added.

Finally, Hazard also spoke about Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, whom he had long admired. Zidane was one of the strong factors that convinced Hazard to join Madrid.

“Everyone knows my idol Zidane and now for him to be my coach is a significant factor. But, I always want to play for this club. I usually enjoy the role on the left side or as number 10, but this is not my decision,” explained Hazard.
