Eric Bailly’s Injury Opens the Door to the Arrival of Harry Maguire

DBasia.news –  Bad news for Manchester United. Their defender, Eric Bailly, had just been injured and sidelined for four-five months. It seemed to be the reason for United to step on the gas to recruit Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

Bailly, 25, injured his knee against Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season test match in China last week. Bailly underwent surgery and unfortunately, he had to be absent for some time and had to wait for the opportunity to play regularly on United’s back line.

“Eric has had an operation and he will be out for four to five months. Hopefully we can have him back before Christmas (December 25),” hoped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United manager, regarding Bailly’s condition, to MUTV.

Man United still has a large stock of players at the center-back position: Marcos Rojo, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Axel Tuanzebe. However, fans still really hope that United can complete Maguire’s transfer.

The transfer of the England national team’s central defender Saga has taken public attention this summer. United are rumored to have made an offer, but Leicester insist on selling him at a price of £ 90 million.

Man United’s legend, Wayne Rooney, strongly supports United’s intention to recruit Maguire. According to him, the 26-year-old player could be a valuable asset for Manchester Red.

“I think Harry is a good player and over the last few years he has developed as a player,” Rooney told ESPN.

“He continues to improve and has become a key player for Leicester City, but also for England. I think he has become a good recruit if they can get him.”

If Leicester doesn’t lower Maguire’s price and United does not increase their offer, fans could continue to be disappointed to see the failure of the team to recruit new defenders with quality and international experience.
