DBasia.news – Antoine Griezmann will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2018-19 season. Rumor has it, Griezmann will go to Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona’s coach responds.
Barcelona became the sole competitor to win Griezmann’s service because two other clubs, Manchester City and PSG (Paris Saint-Germain), resigned from the hunt. Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel confirmed it.
Valverde was also asked by the media crew about rumors of Griezmann’s transfer. The former coach of Athletic Club Bilbao answered it firmly. Valverde did not want to discuss it too much because Griezmann was still an Atletico player.
“Griezmann is a player who is still at another club. He is a great player. I always say it. But, we are not talking about players at other clubs – are you going to ask every club manager if they will bring it?” Valverde said at Sport-English.
“If, in the end, he (Griezmann) comes to Barcelona, we’ll see. We are now talking about an uncertain situation. We’ll see what will happen,” concluded Valverde.
According to news circulating, Barcelona must pay 125 million euros to recruit Griezmann from Atletico because of his purchase clause. In addition to discussing Griezmann’s transfer, Barcelona had previously also succeeded in recruiting Frenkie de Jong from Ajax Amsterdam for 86 million euros.
