Everton wins a Landslide Victory over Chelsea in Duncan Ferguson’s Debut

DBasia.news –  Everton won a landslide 3-1 victory over Chelsea in Week 16 of the Premier League at Goodison Park. This is a debut match for Everton’s interim manager, Duncan Ferguson.

Three Everton goals were scored by Richarlison (5 ‘) and two goals by Dominic Calvert-Lewin (49’ and 84 ‘), reduced by Mateo Kovacic’s goals. Everton slowly moved away from the relegation zone and Chelsea swallowed their third defeat in the last five matches in the Premier League.

Winning at Goodison Park, achieved by a strong opponent, on the debut match as manager with a special club is clearly a good memory for Duncan Ferguson, the former Everton striker in mid 1994-1998, who was appointed to replace Marco Silva.

“I think, for men, players are a tribute to football. We want a reaction and we got it today,” Duncan Ferguson said after the match ended on Everton’s Twitter @Everton.

“I am emotional, passionate, tense. It’s hard to get a message around because the atmosphere is so great, it can’t be better,” he explained.

I was so emotional, the man who is often called Big Dunc was hugging the ball boy when celebrating a goal. Of course, it’s a scene that illustrates Ferguson’s passion for football.

“It’s really hard to describe that feeling. It was really pure emotion – I almost cried at the end of the fight. Nothing was planned (with celebration of the ball boy). I am proud and nobody can take it from me,” explained Duncan Ferguson.

Everton’s improvement under Ferguson’s care can also be seen from a total of 37 tackles made by the players. That became the highest amount among the other Premier League teams and the most that Everton did during the last decade.

While Lampard blamed the focus of his team, especially at the back, for ‘giving’ three goals for Everton from defensive errors raised by Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.

“We gave them three goals. We didn’t create enough chances and kicked a lot,” Lampard added.
