DBasia.news – Liverpool midfielder, Naby Keita, was injured when his team were beaten 0-3 by Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final first leg. Keita’s injury is predicted to be severe with a recovery time of around eight weeks. Keita is also predicted to be unable to appear at the 2019 African Cup.
The incident was a bad moment for Naby Keita, considering that the midfielder has shown satisfying performance in recent months and has become one of the key players for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
After Klopp conveyed the conditions of Naby Keita, the statement from the German manager received a response from the Guinea Football Federation, which stated that the Reds manager was in a hurry to submit an estimation of the injury suffered by the player.
“We want to express our prayers for Naby Keita’s recovery process, from what I understand is the injury he suffered, will not necessarily make him miss the 2019 African Cup. Such injuries generally make players absent for two to three weeks.”
“Liverpool manager (Jurgen Klopp) should not be in a hurry and let the medical team carry out their duties,” said Antonio Souare, president of the Guinea Football Federation, in a statement quoted from the Goal.
Souare stressed that Naby Keita has an obligation to prioritize the interests of his country compared to the club, and that the player will perform with Guinea at the 2019 African Cup after recovering from his injury.
