German Football Faces Great Crisis due to Corona Virus
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, assesses German football is in a big crisis due to the corona virus.
The German Football League (DFL), as the organizer of the competition, decided to postpone all Bundesliga 1 and 2 matches until April 2 at the earliest. This step was taken as a “correction” of the previous decision where the match was still held even without spectators.
Decisions that received harsh criticism, including from Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara. “To the management of the DFL. This is crazy. Please stop joking and see the reality. There is something more important than sports.”
If most agree with Thiago, a few regretted the decision of the DFL to change the decision from closed games to postponement.
While Watzke believes there are still other approaches that can be taken to address the corona virus pandemic.
“The DFL Presidium has made a decision that must be respected. Although there is actually another approach,” Watzke said on the official Dortmund page.
“We all have to do it together and come back to discuss other options next Monday.”
“Depending on Monday’s decision, German football will face the biggest crisis in history,” Watzke added.
