Harry Maguire Has Been Offered a Fantastic Contract by Manchester City

DBasia.news –  The latest Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, will continue to get the spotlight throughout his career. It was not separated from his status as the world’s most expensive defender when United recruited him for 80 million pounds from Leicester City this summer.

However, interesting facts are now revealed. Before agreeing to join Man United, it turns out Maguire had turned down an offer from their city rivals, Manchester City. Reporting from Mirror, the salary offer from The Citizens was not joking, which reached 278,000 pounds per week with a five-year contract. That is, Maguire can get 70 million pounds if he fulfills the contract, while making him the highest-paid defender in the world.  

Although the player and the agent met Man City representatives several times, in the end, the 26-year-old preferred to join Man United. In fact, the salary he received with the Red Devils is much lower, which is only in the range of 190,000 pounds per week.

Playing minutes were allegedly the reason Maguire chose to join Man United. As is known, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, he does not have many rivals to become the main center back with Victor Lindelof. On the other hand, if he joined Man City, he would have to compete with Pep Guardiola’s two main defenders last season, namely Aymeric Laporte and John Stones.
