Injured Against Strasbourg, Neymar Might Absent in the Match Against Man United

DBasia.news –  The series of injury keep on happening to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). In fact, they would play against Manchester United in the Champions League. Neymar just got injured.

The Brasilian star injured when PSG defeated Strasbourg in the 32-stage of Coupe de France with a 2-0 score, Thursday (24/1) at Parc des Princes. Two goals were created by Edinson Cavani (4′) and Angel Di Maria (80′).

Neymar left the pitch after an hour becoming the target from Strasbourg midfielder, Moataz Zemzemi who tackled him three times before the referee Johan Hamel gave the foul and free kick.

After the match, the 26-year-old player was rushed to the hospital as the preventive action. PSG coach Thomas Tuchel is concerned with his condition due to the injury in the right ankle. Neymar has the record of right ankle metatarsal injury that forced him to absent for a long time.

“Neymar is worried because it’s the same foot, the right foot, in the same area,” Tuchel said cited by Guardian

“I need to wait for the doctor to give me news about Ney. It’s always complicated (with this kind of injuries). The referee did not whistle after one tackle, then a second, then a third. After that, he has twisted his foot.”

There’s no sympathy from Strasbourg. The midfielder Anthony Goncalves said that he is injured due to his own performance, dribbling.

“It’s his style, but if you play like that don’t complain if you take some knocks after. He’s a great player, and I respect the player he is, but we’re not here so he has fun at our expense,” Goncalves emphasized.

“If he wants to have fun, we’ll respond with the weapons we have. We have a jersey to defend. We’re not here for a laugh.”

Consequently, PSG fans are waiting for the update about his injury. In Wednesday (13/2), PSG would visit Old Trafford, home of Man United, for the first leg of Champions League round of 16.

Neymar isn’t the only injured PSG player. Before him, Marco Verratti also injured when PSG won 9-0 against Guingamp. Hence, Tuchel has no option for the midfield.

Adrien Rabiot is still in the substitute team due to his intention not to renew the contract with PSG. Verratti and Lassana Diarra are injured. Tuchel only has Di Maria, Marquinhos, and Daniel Alves to play and they are not the real midfielder.

That’s why Tuchel hopes PSG could sign the new midfielder in the remaining period of winter transfer market. Les Parisiens are targeting Napoli midfielder, Allan.
